ENCOPINION or ‘The Debating Competition’ provides a platform to sublimate your thought in the most explicit manner and speak your mind comprehensively on the topics at hand. This event not only shows the thought process of the participants but more than that tests the oratorical skills of the speakers!
But over the past years we have realized that debating competitions becomes a bit boring after a certain duration of time so this time instead of the normal form of the competition we present Encopinion in the exciting PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE form!
Rules and Regulations are as follows:
- The competition this time is the exciting parliamentary form of debate.
- The debate is based on the 2 on 2 format that is each team will consist of 2 participants.
- The teams registering for the event will be divided into different pools.
- There will be a preliminary round wherein the teams in each pool will have to face each other and will have to debate on a given motion.
- 1 speaker from each team will be invited to present his/her views on the given motion and his speech is open to interjections from the opposition teams.
- At the end of the preliminary round the names of the top 5 teams qualifying for the finals will be declared and the same procedure will be repeated in the final round but this time both the speakers will have the opportunity to speak.
- The time limit for each speaker will be 6 minutes which will include the time taken for the reply speech.
- The topics/motions will be given on the spot and a time of 15 minutes will be provided to the teams to concatenate their ideas and speak either in support or against the motion.
- At the end of the final round the name of the winning team will be announced by the judge/moderator.
- The decision of the judges or the moderators will be final and binding.
